Best Value is our pledge to give you the best quality, most cost-effective transport system possible within our resources. The Local Government Act 1999 requires us to review all our services and activities in detail to check if we are running them in the most effective and efficient way; we will publish a Performance Plan each year and we will ask your opinion regularly.

We continually review all our services, and we will:

• Challenge why and how a service is provided and consider whether we are the right organisation to deliver it
• Compare ourselves against the ‘best’ examples from the public, private and voluntary sectors, checking that the way we carry out our work is as good as elsewhere
• Consult with local people and businesses to make sure we ask you what you think about transport issues
• Compete with other sectors to make sure we give value for money
• Collaborate with others wherever possible to get better value.

The results of the reviews undertaken this year will be published in our Performance Plan next year. Your comments in the questionnaire will also be reported in the next Performance Plan so please make sure your views are returned to us.
