       APPENDIX 2  (PDF : 73K)

The following items have been placed on the agenda at the request of Councillor Mick Lyons in accordance with Standing Order 3(3):

19.  SUPERTRAM STATEMENT

The PTA is very disappointed regarding the Government's announcement by the Transport Minister, Alistair Darling, not giving the go ahead to Leeds Supertram.

It is essential that Leeds and West Yorkshire has a 21st century transport system and this decision seriously threatens to put the city's success and future prosperity at serious risk.

By refusing to fund Supertram, the Government is putting the region at a big disadvantage for further investment opportunities, particularly when billions have been allocated for transport schemes in London and the South East.

It is requested that the PTA send a letter to all West Yorkshire MPs asking for their support in condemning Alistair Darling's announcement and urging the Government to reconsider their decision.

20.  SECURITY - METRO STAFF

That the PTA congratulate Metro staff on the professional and attentive manner in which they have responded to the situation following the London bombings and that the Authroity should continue to give members of staff their full support during these
very difficult times.
